Wohi Khuda Hai is a song in praise of the One Creator, and is part of an album created with Aadyam Handwoven, where each artist was given a color to interpret. I was given white, Shvet. White, to me, meant stillness. A place where everything falls away. A silence. A sense of equilibrium. A blank, untouched, sacred canvas. And that became the starting point for this piece. In creating the arrangement, I wanted the music to feel sparse, clean and almost empty. Like prayer. Like Ibaadat. Like a quiet conversation between me and the Beloved.
I asked Ahsan Ali, who accompanies me so beautifully on the sarangi, to explore the instrument in many different ways, creating layers that give the piece its depth. The sarangi became the voice that carries that prayer, its deeply human sound meeting the voice, accompanied only by the gentle pulse of the Daf. Just the voice, the Sarangi and the Daf. Three sounds coming together like a heartbeat. An inner pulse. An inner voice of Ibaadat. I hope when you listen, you find a moment of stillness too. A little space to breathe, to remember, and perhaps to feel the presence of the One.

Shvet. White. Silence. Beginning. And in that silence, the remembrance of the One.
